LASER TRIGGER

By the time your finger moves, the moment is gone.

The Laser Trigger turns any laser pointer into a tripwire for your shutter – firing your camera in about a millisecond, faster than any human reflex.

A feature of the ONNOA SmartTimer Pro with Lightning Trigger. No extra hardware beyond an everyday laser pointer.

LASER TRIGGER

beam break → shutter
armed · waiting for beam break

By the time your finger moves, the moment is gone.

A feature of the ONNOA SmartTimer Pro with Lightning Trigger. No extra hardware beyond an everyday laser pointer.

How it works

Beam. Break. Shot.

Aim an ordinary laser pointer at the SmartTimer’s sensor and it sees one constant, bright point of light. The instant anything crosses the beam, that light drops and the SmartTimer reads the change in under a millisecond and fires your shutter. It’s the same high-speed optical sensor that catches lightning.

01

Point any laser pointer at the SmartTimer’s sensor across your scene – a doorway, a trail, the rim of a glass.

02

Open the Onnoa app, choose Laser Trigger, then pick your camera mode and recovery time. Works fully offline, no account.

03

The instant something crosses the beam, the sensor sees the light drop and fires your shutter in under a millisecond.

The setup

Stand the SmartTimer and a laser pointer apart — a few centimetres or many metres — with the beam aimed at the sensor. Anything that passes between them breaks the beam and takes the shot.

What you'll catch

The shots that live in a single millisecond.

Anywhere the decisive moment is too fast or too unpredictable for a finger on the shutter, a laser does the timing for you.

High-speed

Water drops. Bursting balloons. Shattering glass.

Place the beam where the action happens. The drop falls, the balloon pops, the glass cracks – and the frame is already taken.

Sport & Action

Tack-sharp at the exact finish line.

Wildlife · camera trap

Set the tripwire. Let the animal take the photo.

A laser beam across a trail or den. When an animal crosses, the camera fires – while you sit warm and dry 80m away. Weatherproof to -30 °C.

Birds in flight

Frozen mid-wing, leaving the perch.

Aim the beam at a feeder or branch. The bird breaks it on take-off and you get the wing position no burst-and-pray ever lands.

Honestly

Good to know

A few honest notes, so your first shots land — no surprises. A few honest notes, so your first shots land — no surprises.

Works around the clock

Bright sunlight, indoors, dusk or full dark – the sensor stays reliable in any light, so it triggers exactly where and when you need it.

Any laser pointer will do

All you need is a simple laser source aimed at the sensor — no special accessory and no calibration.

Mind the shutter lag

Every camera has its own shutter lag, often around 50ms. The SmartTimer itself reacts in under 1ms, so using the included remote triggering cable and manual focus gets the best out of every shot.

Adjustable

Adjust to your needs

With manual threshold adjustments, you’re in complete control. Fine-tune the sensitivity to capture with the laser sensor just the way you like it.

Modes

Different modes for different
results.

Once the beam breaks, what your camera does next is up to you. The Laser Trigger offers three shooting modes: Normal, Burst and Bulb. Each built for a different kind of moment. Freeze a single split-second event, fire a rapid sequence to catch the exact peak of the action, or hold the shutter open for long, light-painted exposures. Pick the mode that matches your shot, and the trigger handles the timing down to the millisecond.

Normal Mode

Don't rely on luck. Laser Trigger automatically detects and captures every lightning strike.

Bulb Mode

No matter if you want to do bulb exposure or use burst mode. Laser Trigger is your assistant.

Burst Mode

No Setup required. Just connect the your SmartTimer and start shooting.

Features

No matter what's your goal.
We've got you covered.

Aim for the stars and beyond.

The SmartTimer is equipped with a bulb mode that allows for long exposures, ranging from seconds to hours, with precise control down to 0.01 seconds. With the up top 80m wireless remote triggering and the weatherproof design (from -30°C to 50°C) you can eliminate any vibrations and achieve crisp, detailed images even during extended sessions in challenging environments.

Holy grail made easy.

Interval ramping allows for a smooth change of the interval over time, enabling you to capture more pictures in a given time. You can create sequences that seem to slow down time and highlight important moments. This is ideal for capturing dynamic scenes such as sunrises and sunsets, where lighting conditions change rapidly. Thanks to the ramping, however, the long exposure times required during the night are still possible.

Get straight to the point.

Linear timelapse is made effortless with SmartTimer. Set your interval, save presets for recurring locations, and use the offline app to tweak settings on the go. Its long battery life (up to 150 hours) ensures you can capture extended sequences without interruptions.

Capture lightning. Never miss a strike.

Capture the power of nature with the lightning trigger add-on. Engineered to detect and react to lightning strikes within milliseconds, it synchronizes perfectly with your camera’s shutter to capture the brilliance of a lightning flash. This seamless integration turns unpredictable weather into a creative opportunity for stunning imagery.

Break the beam. Never miss the moment again.

Capture split-second action with the laser trigger sensor. Engineered to detect the instant a laser beam is broken and react within milliseconds, it synchronizes perfectly with your camera’s shutter to freeze moments too fast for any human reflex. This seamless integration turns fleeting motion, for example a falling drop, a passing animal or a bird in flight into a creative opportunity for stunning imagery.

Up to 80m distance.

The SmartTimer lets you take photos without touching the camera, which helps avoid blurry pictures, especially for long exposures like astrophotography. The maximum distance is up to 80 meters. You control it through the Onnoa app, available for Android and iOS, and it works offline, so no internet is needed.

Save it for later.

With SmartTimer, saving your ideal shooting setup is effortless. Simply configure your preferred exposure time, interval, and delay, then save them as presets. Whether you’re switching between different lighting conditions or creative scenes, your settings are just one tap away—optimized even with auto-adjustments for sunrise and sunset.
